Tsunami Response Training for Businesses is now available from the International Tsunami Information Center (ITIC). A Training Manual based on best practices and including tsunami response standard operating procedures templates is available as part of a 0.5-day course taught by the ITIC and its partners.
In 2012, the ITIC received a request from Juan Camacho of the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) – Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HSEM) to create a training workshop that better prepares coastal businesses and hotels to respond to tsunami hazards. The workshop provides guidance to businesses on how to protect the safety of their employees, customers, and business operations. The ITIC staff (including Dr. Laura Kong, Brian Yanagi, and Nicolás Arcos) researched, created, and delivered “Tsunami Response Workshop for Businesses” pilots in CNMI and Guam in September 2013, with assistance from the Weather Forecast Office (WFO) Guam. The course was again delivered in Guam in 2014.
